Vandals hit businesses on Omaha Reservation
Business owners in a town on the Omaha Reservation say the U.S. Attorney's Office in Nebraska is failing to prosecute incidences of vandalism.

Vandals have hit businesses in Walthill two weekends in a row. Even the Walthill Senior Center had its windows broken.

But local authorities said there is nothing they can do because one suspect was a juvenile member of the Omaha Tribe. So it would be up to the U.S. Attorney's Office to bring charges.

"It isn't accurate whatsoever to blame it on the tribal council, or the tribal anything, isn't correct. It's our U.S. attorney. That's where I place most of the blame," Thurston County Sheriff Chris Kleinberg told KPTH-TV.

Thurston County is more than 50 percent Native American but Walthill has a large non-Indian population. Some in the county claim the Omaha Reservation has been diminished.
