Rosebud Sioux Tribe addresses suicide among youth
The Rosebud Sioux Tribe needs to declare "war" on suicide, Chairman Rodney Bordeaux said on Tuesday.

The tribe opened a two-day summit to address suicide among youth on the reservation. So far this year, seven people have committed suicide.

"We need to put a stop to this," Bordeaux said, The Sioux Falls Argus Leader reported. "We need to begin to do something to get our youth to declare a war on suicide."

The biggest issue is resources, participants said. Without funding and programs, "nothing really changes," said Marcida Eagle Bear. "We're losing our young people," she said, the paper reported.

The summit ends today.
