Hoopa Valley Tribe declares emergency over fires

The Hoopa Valley Tribe declared a state of emergency on Tuesday due to smoke from fires in northern California.

The tribe has relocated about 36 families as a result of the dense smoke. People are being urged to stay indoors out of concern for their health.

The air quality in the region has been rated a stage five, or hazardous, the most dangerous.
