BIA to mediate San Pasqual membership dispute
Rival factions of the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians have agreed to mediation by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

The tribe has split into two camps over a membership dispute. About 50 people are being removed from the rolls.

Each side claims to be the legitimate leadership of the tribe. BIA superintendent James Fletcher will work with the groups in order to ensure the tribe's programs and casino remain up and running.
