A television station in California helped a Lakota man track down his missing trust assets.

Martin Waukazoo, the CEO of the Native American Health Center, relocated to the Bay Area from South Dakota 30 years ago. Though he has been active in Indian issues throughout his life, the federal goveranment failed to keep contact with him.

"I didn't even know I was lost," Waukazoo, a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe, told KPIX-TV.

Waukazoo found his name on the whereabouts unknown list and was directed to a 1-800 number. He found out he owns 0.0006 percent of an allotment.

"I have $13.11! Waukazoo said of the money in his trust account.

The Office of the Special Trustee for American Indians says $72 million in trust funds is owned by people the agency can't find.
