Doctor testifies in Narragansett smokeshop raid case

A doctor who treated a member of the Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island for a broken ankle testified on Wednesday.
Dr. Stephen Gross said the July 15, 2003, injury to Adam Jennings caused him some permanent loss of motion. It was the second ankle break for Jennings, who was arrested for working at a tax-free smokeshop on the reservation.
Jennings accuses state trooper Kenneth Jones of using excessive force during the raid. Fellow troopers testified that Jennings was not following orders.
Jennings previously won a $301,000 judgment against Jones but a new trial was ordered.
