Private golf club may revert to Agua Caliente Band

A private golf club that is having a hard time recruiting members may revert to the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians of California.

The tribe has leased land to the Canyon Country Club for decades. But the 18-hole club won't be able to operate much longer because membership has dropped amid a worsening national economy.

As a result, the tribe may have to run the club. A spokesperson said the tribe would keep it running in semi-private status, so the public will finally get a chance to play the course.
