Report: Indian students more likely to be paddled

Indian students are more than twice as likely to be paddled in school, according to a report being released today.
Human Rights Watch and the
American Civil Liberties Union used
Education Department data to examine corporal punishment in public schools. American Indians, African-Americans and students with disabilities were punished more than others, the groups said.
Corporal punishment at schools is outlawed in most states but remains prevalent in the south and in some western states.
