Sen. Dorgan weighs strategy for passage of IHCIA
Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-North Dakota) said he might attach the Indian Health Care Improvement Act to an omnibus bill or an appropriations bill in order to ensure its passage this year, Indian Country Today reports.

The Senate already passed its version of the bill. But two issues -- abortion and the Cherokee Freedmen -- have slowed progress in the House.

Dorgan, the chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, hopes the bill clears the House in the next few weeks. But he said he will take other action if that doesn't happen.
