Gila River governor survives primary challenge
The leader of the Gila River Indian Community of Arizona survived a primary challenge in an election on Tuesday.

Gov. William R. Rhodes was the top vote-getter, according to unofficial results. He will face Jennifer Allison-Ray in November's general election.

Rhodes beat a recall attempt in June. He was targeted for his decision to fire six tribal employees in 2006, the year he took office.
