Lummi Nation opens student residential academy

The
Lummi Nation of Washington dedicated the Lummi Youth Academy on Thursday.
The academy is a residential facility for students who attend the
Lummi Nation School.
Twenty-six students, including members of other tribes, have already signed up to live there for the current school year.
"This will help me get to school on time," R.J. Roesbery told The Seattle Times. "I am always missing the bus."
The tribe paid for the $2.1 million academy with tribal, federal and private sources. It will cost about $1.4 million a year to run.
