Makah grandmothers complete 330 walk for treaty

Three grandmothers from the
Makah
Nation of Washington completed their 330-mile journey to call attention to treaty rights and other issues.
Dotti Chamblin, 65, Gail Adams, 68, and Rhonda Markishtum, 50, walked and drove from the reservation to Portland, Oregon. They said the federal government isn't living up to the
1855
Treaty of Neah Bay, which reserves the tribe's fishing rights and health care.
"We're getting some information out to the public that they need to know about," Chamblin told The Peninsula Daily News.
The women plan to head to Lewiston, Idaho, to meet with the
Indian Health Service.
