Nez Perce Tribe opens commercial fishing
The Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho opened its commercial fishing season this week in the Snake River basin.

The tribe is holding five short seasons for steelhead from now until the end of the month. This year's run is expected to be one of the largest in recent history.

The tribe says fishers may be allowed to use gill nets, a technique that kills all fish that become entangled in the nets.
