Census Bureau adopts first Indian policy
The U.S. Census Bureau signed its first American Indian and Alaska Native policy during the National Congress of American Indians convention in Phoenix, Arizona, on Tuesday.

The policy seeks to ensure American Indians and Alaska Natives are adequately counted in the 2010 Census. The two populations were the most undercounted in the 2000 Census.

"With all that we have tried to do and have done, we need your help," Census Bureau Director Steve Murdock said, Cronkite News Service reported.

Murdock will speak at the Alaska Federation of Natives convention this Saturday.
