Editorial: Sen. Johnson proven on Indian issues
"The day Sen. Tim Johnson said he would seek re-election, his health became a campaign issue.

South Dakotans have been asked to decide whether Johnson is fit to serve as one of our two senators for another six years.

Of that, we have little doubt.

We believe Joel Dykstra is a good man and a sincere candidate, but he's not the kind of leader we need in the Senate at this critical time.

Johnson, by contrast, has a measurable and impressive track record in the Senate and the House of Representatives before that. He's been a strong advocate for the Lewis & Clark water project and for improving conditions on Indian reservations in South Dakota and elsewhere.

His values and priorities have made him an effective representative for South Dakota on these and other issues. There's no reason that won't continue to be true."
