The Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana will hold a ceremony on Wednesday to mark the designation of two battle sites as national landmarks.
The Rosebud Battlefield, also known as the place Where the Girl Saved Her Brother, and the Wolf Mountain Battlefield, also known as Where Big Crow Walked Back and Forth, were the sites of two battles that took place a week apart in June 1876. The battles resulted in the defeat of George Custer at Little Bighorn and the retreat of Gen. George Crook.
Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne included both sites in the National Historic Landmark Program earlier this month.
