Oneida Nation to buy golf course at lower price
The Oneida Nation of Wisconsin plans to buy a golf course for a slightly lower price to account for restrictions on the property.

The tribe originally agreed to pay up to $12 million for the Thornberry Creek Golf Course. But the village of Hobart stepped in and sought to enforce highly-restrictive covenants affecting taxes and use of the property.

The tribe will now pay $10.5 million for the property under a plan approved by a federal judge. Hobart, however, still wants the tribe to waive its sovereign immunity.

The administrator in Hobart is the former leader of an anti-sovereignty group.
