Morongo Band brings Santa Claus to students
The Morongo Band of Mission Indians continued a Christmas tradition by sending Santa Claus to a local elementary school.

Students at Cabazon Elementary School were more than happy to see St. Nick. He bore gifts of backpacks filled with school supplies and new shoes.

"For the rest of my life, this will be special," Ilay'na Nelson, 7, a second-grader, told The San Bernardino Sun. "They (shoes) smell new and good."

The tribe's Santa tradition goes back more than 10 years, the paper said.
