Close vote for Lac du Flambeau fishing agreement
Members of the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa voted narrowly to maintain the tribe's fishing agreement with the state of Wisconsin.

The agreement was upheld by a vote of 95 to 92. Turnout was reported to be very low.

"I am not surprised that this passed by only three votes," President Carl Edwards told The Lakeland Times. "I understand there are some problems with the agreement, and some tribal members want more fish."

The agreement was signed 12 years ago. It allows bag limits for hook and line fishermen to be set by the state.
