Indian student returns to class with long hair intact
A federal judge ordered public school officials in Texas to allow an Indian student to return to class after he was suspended for having long hair.

Jesus Figueroa, who is from the P'urhépecha Tribe in Mexico, violated Somerset High School's policy against long hair on males. He was suspended several times until his family went to court.

After a judge ruled for Figueroa, the school board of trustees voted to grant an exemption to him. “I feel good that they’re going to respect me for who I am — a native person," the 17-year-old senior told The San Antonio Express-News.
