Tonto Apache Tribe swears in new chief judge
The Tonto Apache Tribe of Arizona swore in a new chief judge last Friday.

Ronnie O. McDaniel, a former state judge, is not a tribal member but he grew up in the area and is familiar with Apache culture. He said he was looking forward to learning more about tribal law.

“I have known the people a long time, so I guess I know what I am getting into,” said McDaniel, The Payson Roundup reported.

McDaniel replaces Tao Etpison, who resigned in March after serving as chief judge for eight years, the Roundup reported.
