Oneida Nation closes store due to economic woes
The Oneida Nation of New York has closed its discount retail business, citing the economic recession.

Name Brand Deals opened in August 2006. The store carried a variety of goods at a discount prices but couldn't last through the tough economic climate.

"The Oneida Indian Nation continually reviews its business operations to insure optimal performance," a spokesperson told The Syracuse Post-Standard. "These are challenging times for the retail industry and an adjustment was completed."

Some of the store's 14 employees have been transferred to other tribal jobs, the spokesperson said.
