Ex-officer accused of extorting San Manuel man
A former sheriff's deputy in San Bernardino County, California, has been charged for attempting to extort a member of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians.

Ray Green, 46, said he was approached by John Thomas Laurent, 30, about his criminal record. Laurent allegedly promised to have Green released from parole early in exchange for $80,000 and vehicles.

Green recorded conversations with Laurent and eventually wore a wire for the sheriff's department. Laurent was fired last July.
