Ex-Wampanoag leader heads to court for sentence
A federal judge will sentence Glenn Marshall, the former chairman of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe of Massachusetts, today.

Marshall pleaded guilty to violating campaign finance laws, embezzling funds, filing false tax returns and fraudulently receiving Social Security benefits. The crimes occurred when he was leading the tribe through its successful federal recognition effort.

Marshall is seeking a sentence of less than a year. Federal prosecutors say he deserves 41 months in prison.
