Indian high school students in Rapid City, South Dakota, are doing better on standardized tests and are graduating at higher rates.
Indian students at Central High School raised their reading scores from 26 percent proficient in 2008 to 59 percent in 2009. Math scores increased from 30 percent in 2008 to 39 percent this year.
Indian graduation rates at Central increased from 41 percent in 2007 to 55 percent this year. Central has the largest number of Indian students in Rapid City.
"We're pleased with the progress," principal Mike Talley told The Rapid City Journal. "We're happy with the results, but we have a lot of work to do."
