A former teacher for the Onondaga Nation in New York was sentenced to 10 years probation and six months in jail for molesting a first-grade student. Albert Scerbo, 47, was initially accused of abusing or endangering 17 students. He was convicted of only two counts but a judge set the verdict aside. An appeals court later reinstated two charges related to the first-grade victim and prosecutors added two more charges related to another victim. A jury found Scerbo guilty of the charges related to the first-grade victim but acquitted him on the other two. Before his first trial, Scerbo said he is the victim of character assassination.
