BIA announces initiative to target drunk driving
The Bureau of Indian Affairs is holding a press conference tomorrow in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to discuss efforts to target drunken driving.

According to the BIA, 3,262 American Indians and Alaska Natives lost their lives in motor vehicle accidents between 2006 and 2006. Of those, 57 percent involved an alcohol impaired driver.

To get drunk drivers the road, the BIA's Indian Highway Safety Program and Office of Justice Services will be deploying four Blood Alcohol Testing mobile vehicles across Indian Country. One of the BATmobiles will serve an area that includes all of New Mexico's tribes and the Navajo Nation.

The press conference takes place at 10:30am at the Bureau of Indian Affairs, 1 Building parking lot, 1001 Indian School Road, in Albuquerque.
