Newspaper covers Little Traverse council session
The Petoskey News-Review was able to cover a council meeting of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians of Michigan without being removed.

The paper was barred from a council meeting in September after tribal members made negative comments about Chairman Ken Harrington. But this past Sunday, the reporter was able to stay for the whole meeting, though the paper's presence wasn't entirely welcomed.

"I am very disappointed for any (tribal council member) who has voted to allow the paper to stay, and for everything to be recorded in a meeting that, I believe, is for tribal members and their families only," said Judy Field, the paper reported.

Some council members, who have disagreed with Harrington's leadership, say the paper should be allowed to cover meetings whenever possible.
