Little Traverse encouraged after Obama meeting
Ken Harrington, the chairman of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians of Michigan, said he is encouraged by the consultation memo signed by President Barack Obama last week..

Harrington attended the White House Tribal Nations Conference, where Obama directed all federal agencies to come up with a detailed consultation plan within 90 days. “This is really positive, because there’s reassurance with a devised plan ... it reassures our treaty rights, which is crucial to our continued sovereignty," Harrington told The Petoskey News-Review.

The memo also calls for the White House Office of Management and Budget to submit a progress report on tribal consultation in one year.
