The Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation of Utah suspended two top executives amid allegations of financial mismanagement.

Mike Devine, the chief operating officer of NWB Economic Development, is being accused of using tribal funds to pay for $163,000 in personal expenses. The allegations were made by Chase Parry, an accountant who joined the firm in August and says the tribe is struggling to pay vendors.

Chase Parry is the grandson of Bruce Parry, who serves as chief executive officer of NWB. Bruce Parry agreed to be suspended while the allegations are investigated but he is backing up Devine.

"I'm ultimately responsible," Bruce Parry said at a tribal council meeting, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.
