North Dakota tribe to renew tax agreement with state
The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation will renew its oil and gas tax agreement with the state of North Dakota.

Chairman Marcus Levings and Gov. John Hoeven (R) are signing the deal this afternoon. The agreement streamlines tribal and state taxation of oil and gas development on the Fort Berthold Reservation.

"Through this present agreement both the tribe and the state are able to work together to provide more stability in the taxation of oil and gas in western North Dakota," Levings said in a press release.

Hoeven is running for U.S. Senate in hopes of replacing Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-North Dakota), the chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee who decided not to seek re-election.
