Former Passamaquoddy police chief accused of theft
The former longtime police chief for the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Pleasant Point in Maine has been indicted on theft and misuse of property charges.

Joseph Barnes, 41, is accused of taking more than $10,000 from the tribe. He also allegedly misused tribal property

Barnes served as police chief on the reservation for 16 years. The theft allegedly took place prior to his resignation in May 2008.
