Klamath Tribes close to deal to buy land near Portland
The Klamath Tribes of Oregon are close to a deal to purchase 385 acres near Portland.

The tribe has been negotiating with Tom and Chris Maletis for six years. A deal could be finalized next month, an attorney for the family said.

The land is off a major interstate near Wilsonville, about 18 miles south of Portland. The tribe hasn't detailed its plans for the site but says a casino isn't in the works.

The tribe is expected to file a land-into-trust application for the land, the attorney said.
