Family of slain Native teen speaks out against violence
The family of a Native girl who was stabbed to death on the Ebb and Flow First Nation in Manitoba held a vigil in Winnipeg on Tuesday. Sandi Lynn Malcolm, 17, was killed at a home on the reserve over the weekend. Her ex-boyfriend, Ronald Joseph Racette Jr., 19, has been charged with her murder. "There should be ways to prevent this," Sandi's father, Kingsley Malcolm, told CBC News. "This kind of violence doesn't belong in a house." Malcolm said he called police after noticing Racette hanging around. According to the RCMP, Racette had been wanted on an arrest warrant for "previous violence" to Sandi. Racette has been charged with second degree murder, aggravated assault, and assault causing bodily harm. Authorities say he stabbed two other women in addition to killing Sandi. Get the Story:
