The Soboba Band of Luiseño
Indians of California has a new chairman.
Scott Cozart was elected on Friday. He served as chairman from 1986 to 1988 and, more recently, as vice chairman.
Cozart replaces Robert Salgado, who stepped down as chairman after being indicted on federal bribery, tax and other charges. Salgado led the tribe for most of the past three decades.
Salgado's trial is scheduled to start on October 15.
