Former Rosebud Sioux council member sentenced for solicitation
A former leader of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe of South Dakota was sentenced to two years probation after pleading guilty to a charge of solicitation of a minor.

Michael Valandra, 51, was arrested in April 2009 as part of a sting operation. He used the Internet to solicit with a person whom he believed was a minor, according to authorities.

The tribe suspended Valandra after he was charged.
