City moves closer to selling water for snow in San Francisco Peaks
The city of Flagstaff, Arizona, is moving closer to a decision on selling water to a ski resort in the sacred San Francisco Peaks.

The city's water commission held a meeting on Thursday night to discuss the issue. More than 200 people attended, The Arizona Daily Star reported, and most of them opposed plans by the Arizona Snowbowl to make snow at the sacred site.

The commission, however, voted 5-4 to recommend the city sell water to the ski resort. The city council still has to decide whether to sell drinking water or reclaimed wastewater for the project.

Tribes oppose the use of any type of water to make snow and the Save the Peaks Coalition has filed a lawsuit against the Department of Agriculture over the health and safety aspects of fake snow.
