Blackfeet Nation seeks treatment as state designation from EPA
The Blackfeet Nation of Montana is seeking treatment as state status from the Environmental Protection Agency.

The tribe wants to administer its own water quality program under the Clean Water Act. The designation would allow the tribe to set standards that might affect off-reservation resources.

If approved, the Blackfeet Nation would be the fourth tribe in Montana to receive treatment as state status.
