Group makes plans for center to serve Santa Fe Indian community
The Santa Fe Indian Center is looking for a home to serve more than 6,000 American Indians and Alaska Natives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Organizers envision the center as a place to provide housing, education, employment and other services. They also want to provide a place where the Indian community can come together.

"When people think of Indians, they think of reservations," Randy Chitto, a founding board member, told The Albuquerque Journal. "That's not true anymore."

The group has been raising funds to find a place to rent and to hire a director.
