Cherokee Nation amends pact to host mixed martial arts matches
The Cherokee Nation and the state of Oklahoma have amended their professional boxing compact.

The deal now allows the tribe to host mixed martial arts matches. The first event is scheduled to take place November 12.

"This allows us to do it within a cooperative framework," spokesperson Mike Miller said of the agreement.

The compact does not expire and renews every year unless one party decides to terminate it.
