Paula Pechonick elected as first female leader of Delaware Tribe
The Delaware Tribe of Oklahoma has elected its first female leader.

Paula Pechonick won the election for chief on Saturday. She replaces Jerry Douglas, who led the tribe since 1992.

The tribe recently regained its federal recognition after a dispute with the Cherokee Nation.
