Muscogee Nation chief to ask Obama for apology at tribal summit
A.D. Ellis, the principal chief of the Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma, wants President Barack Obama to apologize for the federal government's mistreatment of Native peoples.

In 2009, Obama signed a bill that included an official apology from the U.S. But he has yet to acknowledge it.

"I won't accept it unless it is from the president himself," Ellis told The Tulsa World of the apology. "It's long overdue."

Ellis hopes to ask Obama about the apology during the White House Tribal Nations Conference, which takes place in Washington, D.C., on December 16.
