Effort keeps 127 cases of beer away from Pine Ridge Reservation

A joint effort between law enforcement and volunteers kept 127 cases of beer from entering the Pine Ridge Reservation, where liquor is outlawed.

The United Urban Warriors Society and the Strong Heart Warrior Society monitored vehicles that left the town of Whiteclay, Nebraska, where four liquor stores are located. They alerted Oglala Sioux Tribe officers of possible smuggling of beer.

The effort took place on New Year's Eve. "This past week was a most extraordinary successful event," Duane Martin Sr. of the Strong Heart Warrior Society told The Rapid City Journal.
