Flooding causes some evacuations on Pine Ridge Reservation

Flooding on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota prompted the Oglala Sioux Tribe to recommend evacuations.

At least one family left a housing area and more were expected to evacuate. The Black Hills Area Chapter of the Red Cross has opened an emergency shelter to provide assistance.

The National Weather Service issued a flood advisory for Shannon County, which encompasses the reservation, on Monday.
