Santa Fe Indian School fires basketball coach in losing streak

Santa Fe Indian School in New Mexico has fired its longtime boys basketball coach.

Ernie Rodriguez coached the Braves for the past 12 years. But the team's been on a losing streak lately -- losing 10 out of the last 11 games.

"Superintendent (Everett Chavez) decided he didn't want me to coach anymore," Rodriguez told The Albuquerque Journal. "I guess we have a difference in philosophy. He certainly has the right to choose who he works with, so the Indian School is moving on and so am I."

Rodriguez also was removed as football coach but will remain on staff as a physical education teacher.
