Native girl, 14, who was in foster care dies on Alberta reserve

A 15-year-old girl on the Sunchild First Nation was found dead on March 4 and residents say she was raped and beaten.

The girl was in the Alberta foster care system. She went to a party the night before she was killed.

"She was a great kid. Amazing kid," the girl's guardian told CBC News. "But the way she went, she just didn't deserve it. It just tore this family apart."

The RCMP is investigating but no charges have been laid. There are suggestions that someone connected to the case committed suicide on the reserve.
