Navajo Nation man to be sentenced for assault on his wife





A Navajo Nation pleaded guilty to assault with intent to commit murder.

Michael Harrison, 29, admitted that he slashed the throat of his common-law wife, Cherlyncia Yazzie. She suffered serious injuries, including a “a deep laceration that went through her trachea, windpipe, voice box, neck muscles and close to the spinal cord,” the U.S. Attorney's Office in New Mexico said.

Harrison will be sentenced to 78 months in prison for his crime.
