UA News: Project captures history of Arizona tribal libraries

"The development, preservation and continued importance of tribal libraries has been largely left out of the mainstream lexicon.

Intent on developing a stronger understanding of the role of such libraries, Sandy Littletree and Jamie A. Lee, both of the University of Arizona's Knowledge River program, have set out to capture that history.

The two are heading up "Stories of Arizona’s Tribal Libraries: An Oral History Project," an effort to record the oral histories of tribal elders, librarians and other tribal community members detailing the important role their libraries have long held in communities throughout the state."
