Editorial: 'Geronimo' codename causes headaches for Obama

"Secret Service code names for presidents are never chosen without their consent. Thus, Renegade (Barack Obama) succeeded Tumbler (George W. Bush), who had taken the place of Eagle (Bill Clinton). All three had to deal with Geronimo, the military code name for Osama bin Laden.

Renegade was asked to apologize for using the name of an Indian chief who’s buried in Oklahoma. Fort Sill Apache Tribe Chairman Jeff Houser says it was inappropriate to equate Geronimo with a “mass murderer and cowardly terrorist.” Given the grief Tumbler got for characterizing the war on terror as a “crusade” or the milder criticism his father (Timberwolf) got for mispronouncing the name of Saddam Hussein (Ace of Spades), Renegade should take this seriously. He might also want to rethink his own code name: “Renegade” means deserter or apostate."
