Riders finish 9th annual Navajo-Hopi Honor Run for veterans

About 100 motorcyclists took part in the ninth annual Navajo-Hopi Honor Run to raise awareness of veterans' issues.

The journey started on Tuesday. The bikers rode about 300 miles a day through the Navajo Nation and the Hopi Reservation.

Yesterday, they made a stop in Shiprock, New Mexico. Russell Begaye, the Shiprock delegate to the Navajo Nation Council, said the tribe needs to provide housing, a hospital and a cemetery for veterans.

"So many things need to be done," Begaye told The Farmington Daily Times. "It's about time we treat our veterans right."

The run ended yesterday in Window Rock, Arizona, the capitol of the Navajo Nation.
